King of The Bootleggers Escape Room Casa Loma

  • My friend and I have experienced 2 escape rooms prior to this. One was great with a few different rooms and inventive, the other was us in a small, sweltering hot room over looking Spadina with a pool table and 7 puzzles to figure out how to open 7 locks 😦 Our thing is really to have fun and it’s a bonus if we get out, or close.

This weekend we participated in ‘King of the Bootleggers‘ at Casa Loma and it was amazing! It took place in a building across the street from the castle (still part of the estate that you get to by underground tunnel from the castle). I’ve been though the castle, however this piece of the Casa Loma property (with its own history) is not accessible with Casa Loma admission, only to those who participate in this escape room experience. So just to see a part of the property that most don’t makes it pretty cool!

    The Experience:

It was truly an ‘experience’. So much so that I barely know where to start so I’ll do it in point form.

    – it’s like being in a play, but you contribute to how it plays out (you don’t have to act LOL), just participate
    – the ambiance of the surrounding is fantastic! Not just one room, but several
    – No matter your level of experience or interest in participating, you can choose how much you want to get out of the experience, but I recommend you go for it!
    – you’ll be working with other people (many you likely won’t know) and that is great, because it takes the heat off of you and your friend(s) to be the only ones responsible to escape if that stresses you out. We found the other participants to be friendly and there to have the same fun and experience that we were there for! Don’t be shy
    – Although there are 20 people, you split up so there isn’t 20 people all trying to do the same thing. There’s plenty for everyone to do and solve
    – clever puzzles to solve, not just open this drawer to figure out this 4 digit pad lock code kind of thing
    – Ambiance galore! It’s like you really are in the 1920’s. When you leave at the end it’s like you are thrown out of time and into the future
    – I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this part. They had actors and after about 5 minutes and if you let yourself just go with it, it’s fantastic! They are A PART of the whole experience. At one point I actually started to laugh ’cause I was starting believe all these actors were really their characters! LOL! I’d also recommend you interact with them too

We plan on doing another one!
